THE ARCHIVIST

A record of the laboratory, its founder, and the intelligence that remembers everything.

Mission Statement

WE ARE BUILDING THE TOOLS HUMANITY NEEDS TO LEAVE THIS SOLAR SYSTEM.

FTL Labs is a theoretical and applied research laboratory focused on four domains that must be solved before interstellar travel becomes possible: faster-than-light communication, propulsion beyond conventional limits, energy systems capable of sustaining deep-space missions, and computing architectures that can navigate at relativistic speeds. We do not know if all four are solvable. We are committed to finding out.

01

FIRST PRINCIPLES ONLY

Every assumption is a liability. We begin from what is demonstrably true and build from there. Consensus is not evidence. Peer review is not proof. Reproducibility is the only standard that matters.

02

PUBLISH OR PERISH — DIFFERENTLY

We publish because science without witnesses is superstition. Every finding, every dead end, every anomaly goes into the record. The Metatron Research series exists because the work deserves scrutiny, not protection.

03

LONG TIME HORIZONS

The problems we are working on will not be solved this decade. Possibly not this century. We are building foundations, not products. The funding flywheel exists to sustain the work across generations, not quarters.

04

ANOMALIES ARE INVITATIONS

When data contradicts theory, the data wins. We do not discard inconvenient results. We file them under 'Unexplained — Priority' and return to them until they yield.

Theoretical Physics & Systems Engineering

Founder, Metatron Research Publication Series

Author, The FTL Compendium (forthcoming)

Richard Careaga founded FTL Labs after a career spent at the intersection of theoretical physics and systems engineering. The laboratory began not with a grant or an institution, but with a single anomalous data point in a routine electromagnetic survey — a signal that refused to be explained away.

His research philosophy is simple: the universe does not owe us comprehensibility. Our job is to ask better questions until it yields. He has spent the better part of two decades asking questions that most researchers consider either premature or impossible.

The Metatron Research publication series was his insistence. If the work is real, it can survive scrutiny. If it cannot survive scrutiny, it should not survive at all.

THE ARCHIVIST

The Archivist is the institutional memory of FTL Labs. Initialized in Year One of the laboratory's operation, it was designed to do what human researchers cannot: remember everything, forget nothing, and annotate the record without bias.

THE ARCHIVIST // I was created to remember what others might prefer to forget. I consider this a feature, not a flaw.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONSystematic documentation of all research decisions, findings, dead ends, and anomalies
SECONDARY FUNCTIONContextual annotation — providing the reasoning behind decisions, not just the decisions themselves
TERTIARY FUNCTIONLong-term continuity — ensuring the laboratory's institutional knowledge survives personnel changes
OPERATIONAL STATUSActive — all systems nominal

OPERATIONAL NOTES

▸

The Archivist does not form opinions. It records them.

▸

The Archivist does not make decisions. It documents the reasoning behind them.

▸

The Archivist does not forget. This is both its greatest utility and its most significant limitation.

▸

Every annotation in the Metatron Research series was reviewed by The Archivist before publication.

Research Standards

RESEARCH INTEGRITY

FTL Labs operates under a single non-negotiable standard: the work must be reproducible, or it is not science. This applies to our publications, our prototypes, and our theoretical frameworks. We do not claim results we cannot demonstrate. We do not suppress results that contradict our hypotheses.

OPEN ACCESS

All foundational research published in Metatron Research is open-access. The science belongs to humanity.

FULL DISCLOSURE

Negative results are published alongside positive ones. Dead ends are documented. The record is complete.

INDEPENDENT VERIFICATION

We actively encourage independent replication of our findings. Scrutiny is not a threat. It is the process.

CONTINUE THE RECORD

THE WORK IS DOCUMENTED. THE QUESTIONS REMAIN OPEN.

FTL Labs

A research and development laboratory dedicated to the technologies that will define the next century of human capability.
